The Petrovic Njegos Foundation is currently carrying out the project on legal and psychological assistance to women victims of domestic violence, along with the sewing and screen printing trainings. This project is being implemented in collaboration with the Women’s Rights Centre in Podgorica, French organization Planète Enfants and the international organization GIP International.
The aim of the project is to create conditions for a successful resocialization of women victims of domestic violence, as well as to provide them with the legal assistance and proper support in the process of their economic empowerment and overcoming the psychological traumas.
Direct beneficiaries of this project are women victims of domestic violence residing in safe houses and using the Women’s Rights Centre services, more precisely: – 50-70 women are users of the psychological counseling services, legal assistance and legal representation services; – 10 women are participating in the sewing workshops which lasts for 6 months; – 20 women are involved in self-help groups.
Indirect beneficiaries are women victims of violence not directly involved in the Program, but among which it is possible to raise awareness about violence against women through a commercial which will be created for that purpose during the workshop.
As one of three components of the joint programme the free weekly legal assistance for women victims of domestic violence started in January 2014, whereas trainings designed for the empowerment and resocialization of women victims of violence and self-help groups started in February.
The expected duration of the project is six months and it will be carried out until the end of June this year in the premises of Women’s Rights Centre. Self-help groups and free legal assistance are being implemented within the regular activities of the Women’s Rights Centre in Podgorica.
