The Petrovic Njegos Foundation is a non-profit organization established with an aim to improve and enhance the quality of life of citizens of Montenegro. Since its establishment in 2012, the Foundation supports and develops projects through cooperation with numerous partners from the government and private sector (national and local government administration, Civil Society Organizations, private companies etc.).
Nikola Petrović Njegoš, architect from Paris, is a direct descendant of the Petrovic Njegos Dynasty.
As the Crown Prince, he was invited to return to Montenegro in 1989, when the mortal remains of King Nikola, Queen Milena and their daughters who died in exile were returned to Montenegro.
The Petrovic Njegos Foundation was established in Montenegro after the adoption of the “Law on the Status of Descendants of the Petrovic Njegos Dynasty” in July 2011. As Montenegro does not have a specific Law on Foundations, the Petrovic Njegos Foundation is registered as an NGO.
In first years of its existence, the Foundation's main focus was on finding reference partners, unifying creative potentials of people and beginning the work on projects which have the potential for sustainability.
