As a continuation of the workshop organized by the Foundation in 2012 in the Gornja Lastva village, situated in the Kotor Bay, there are two activities being implemented over the course of 2014, which are aimed at protecting and valorizing this village and the landscape around it. The first one relates to vegetation and restoration of olive groves around the village. The second activity is related to the architectural heritage and involves dry stone masonry and restoration of the walls along the main roads in the village.
GORNJA LASTVA 1: Restoration of the olives plateau
The first activity of cleaning and removing excess greenery was implemented in cooperation with the association from the village called “Napredak Gornja Lastva” (Progress Gornja Lastva).
The second activity is planned for winter in 2015, together with the association of olive growers, in order to ensure maintenance of the existing olive groves and planting of new ones.
GORNJA LASTVA 2: Restoration of dry stone walls
Traditional masonry workshop on dry stone walls was organized in May, in cooperation with the association “Progress” and with the support of Porto Montenegro. It resulted in the preservation and repairs of the walls along the main roads in the village.
It is also planned to have another workshop in the autumn 2015. The Foundation is currently looking for partners for the organization of this workshop.
